“Empowering youth to counteract cyberbullying through innovative teaching and advocating legislation reform in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, BIH”.
The NGO Agency for Sustainable Development “Altus” chose a comprehensive approach with the view of aiding solution to the problem of cyberbullying among children in the area of HNK. The project titled “Empowering youth to counteract cyberbullying through innovative teaching and advocating legislation reform in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, BIH” is dedicated to counteracting peer cyberbullying, and is supported by the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Cyberbullying often goes unnoticed, creating stress and psychological trauma in children. The project deals with this challenge, focusing attention on the importance of protecting children on the Internet, as well as collaborating with educatiors with the aim of improving approaches to this problem.
The overall Project goal is to empower children, parents and educators in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC) to recognize and handle peer cyberbullying and advocate greater accountability of authorities in enacting relevant legislation. This will be attained through achieving three specific outcomes:
- Create an educational toolkit
- Develop and compile guidelines/protocols for dealing with cyberbullying - school act
- Analysis of legislation - advocacy.
This project has the potential to bring significant changes in the protection of children from cyberbullying, the education of school staff and the improvement of legislation, in order to ensure a safer online environment for children and youth.
